Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Tannis McCarthy, a teacherTannis McCarthy at Holy Trinity Catholic School. Tannis was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Tannis McCarthy amazes me all the time with the beautiful, artistic creations she and her students produce. She is always one of the first teachers to arrive with her husband Brendan around 7:30 am each morning to prepare for class. There are regular displays of student artwork. It's this kind of caring and dedication to her students and school that inspires her classes and has the guidance department making waiting lists for her courses. I've visited her classes and seen how engaged the students are because of her teaching. Tannis doesn't like to be in the spotlight but she deserves to be acknowledged for the special kind of teacher she is”

Laurie Trudeau-LalondeThis week we are also celebrating Laurie Trudeau-Lalonde, a teacher at St. Antoine Daniel Catholic School. Laurie was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Laurie is quite literally the most dedicated Special Education Resource Teacher I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She is exceptionally dedicated to the well-being and service of our exceptional learners and will literally bend over backward to find and facilitate their needs. She is driven and focused and an accomplished, highly respected leader amongst her peers. Laurie is the epitome of the consummate professional.”

We would like to thank Tannis and Laurie for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
