Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Jennifer Harvey, an Jennifer Harvey educational assistant at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Collingwood. Jennifer was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Jennifer is an integral part of the EA team at St. Mary's School in Collingwood. Jennifer created a communication board for students at SMC. It was installed in the schoolyard for students who are non-verbal, have differentiated communication needs, or are pre-readers. This communication board was brought to the attention of the Wasaga Beach accessibility committee and the Town of Wasaga Beach recently installed 13 of these communication boards at Provincial Parks in the area.

Jennifer, along with all the EAs at St. Mary's School in Collingwood, works extremely hard to ensure the students at SMC are included in all school-related activities.

The St. Mary's School community is very fortunate to have this amazing group of EAs supporting our students throughout their educational journey.”

Theresa LevesqueThis week we are also celebrating Theresa Levesque, a teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Barrie. Theresa was nominated by a colleague who said:

“She is an exceptional educator, not only for French, but she is very involved in the school community. Madame has been a teacher at our school for many years. She has always created a vibrant atmosphere in her classroom that emphasizes creativity, acceptance, a love of learning, and comfort. Her dedication to her students is unparalleled. Madame fosters a love of French through songs, dances, games, and Manie Musicale. She decorates her room and school bulletin boards with student artwork and projects. Madame greets each student with smiles and warmth. Her classroom is always open to students who need to chat, want to help, or need some help. Madame also is dedicated to her duties as a choir coach and our school choir has flourished under her tutelage. The students enjoy going to her class for music and health as well. Madame's indigenous heritage allows her a unique opportunity to showcase her knowledge and understanding to all of the students in our school. I cannot say enough about this fantastic colleague and teacher. Madame is truly a gift to St. Mary's and we are all extremely lucky to have her in our school.”

We would like to thank Jennifer and Theresa for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
