Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.
This week we are celebrating Morgan Ellis, a teacher at
St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School. Morgan was nominated by a parent, who said:
“I am writing to you to give a huge shout-out to a most exceptional teacher at our school, St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic School. I wanted to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the exceptional work that Ms. Morgan Ellis does each day with her Grade two class. Ms. Ellis is absolutely amazing. She is an excellent teacher and mentor—she is kind and approachable and sets clear rules and guidelines for her students. She teaches them from the Ontario curriculum but also goes above and beyond to guide them in social skills and teaches them how to be good humans. I have not seen a teacher take such pride and care in her classroom environment, the curriculum, and the student’s social behaviour while delivering it all in a fun, structured and organized fashion. Ms. Ellis is absolutely amazing. Ms. Morgan Ellis teaches her class using various mediums, pulling material from various sources, uses tech, takes the students outdoors…. to deliver the educational material that gets my daughter interested and engaged. Ms. Ellis really knows and loves her students. She is creative, energetic, and fun. She has truly instilled a love of learning and intellectual curiosity in my daughter. Not only that, but she has guided her and other students in fostering healthy and happy friendships by facilitating conflict resolution strategies and what it means to be a good friend. Ms. Morgan Ellis has an impressive skill set and passion for teaching, and it shows. My husband and I are so pleased with the gains our daughter has made under Ms. Ellis’ guidance with respect to her academic education and her personal growth. We are so very thankful that this fantastic teacher is at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School. If there is any award or special recognition for teachers, I hope that you will put Ms. Morgan Ellis’ name forward. It is teachers like this that deserve the highest accolades.”
This week we are also celebrating Diana Gabriele, the executive assistant to the Director of Education at the Catholic Education Centre. Diana was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“Diana is a true professional who is always ready to support the Director with all matters that are in need of attention. She has a keen eye for detail and her organizational skills are top-notch. Diana is a team player who steps up to the plate when her colleagues are working on initiatives to support the Board of Trustees or ELC. While quiet and unassuming by nature, Diana deserves to be recognized for the outstanding job she does.”
We would like to thank Morgan and Diana for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
