Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Jessica Carr, an Jessica Carr Educational Assistant/International Language Program Instructor at St. Charles Catholic School. Jessica was nominated by a parent, who said:

“As parents, we try to give our child the best of everything at home. We rest easy because we know our child will get the best of everything at school. Especially on Saturday mornings when we are doing our International Language Program. Thanks to wonderful educators like Jessica! Thank you for the sweat and tears you have invested in this program to make it fun for my child. You went over and beyond. I know that our kids are excited when they join online from all the fun videos to fun activities. No card could ever hold all the thanks we want to give to you for your mentorship. Thank you for being a teacher and friend for our children.”

Sue SchepersThis week we are also celebrating Sue Schepers, an Educational Assistant at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Sue was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Sue Schepers is a valued member of the staff at OLL. As the only Educational Assistant at the school, she uses her boundless energy to circle around the school supporting the needs of various students throughout the day. Needless to say, her flexibility and easy-going nature are greatly appreciated! Sue approaches each day with a smile and she uses her sense of humour to connect with students and to diffuse situations. She advocates for students and works to find solutions to situations that arise. During a regular school year, you can also find her coaching cross country running and soccer. OLL is lucky to have Sue!”

Finally, we are celebrating Belinda, Gord, Margie, Laura, DMO Martha and Selby, the Disability Management Team at the Catholic Education Centre. The team were nominated by a colleague, who said:

“The Disability Management Team is a competent and dedicated group of professionals dedicated to the health and wellness of all SMCDSB employees. They work in a positive and empathetic manner with employees who are suffering from illness and/or injury to ensure that employees are able to successfully navigate their difficulties in a manner that maximizes positive outcomes for the employees and SMCDSB.

As you might imagine, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a dramatic increase in the workload within the Disability Management Office (DMO). As always, the DMO team has responded with the dedication and work ethic for which they are well known throughout SMCDSB. Despite the increased workload, the team continues to offer their invaluable services to employees, while maintaining the care and compassion that is the hallmark of the DMO.

Truly remarkable work by this fantastic team!”

We would like to thank Jessica, Sue, Belinda, Gord, Margie, Laura, Martha and Selby for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
