Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Jennifer Kavanagh-Collins,Jennifer Kavanagh-Collins a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School. Jennifer was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Mrs. Collins creates a full day of play-based learning activities for everyone in her class. She makes everyone feel good about themselves by asking them, "Is this a day we can do?", when we look at the schedule. All the students yell back “YES!!” It's a busy bunch like every other kindergarten classroom but Mrs. Collins still finds the time for one-on-one time throughout the day. She welcomes every student, every day with a smile on her face. Mrs. Collins is a great teaching partner and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and appreciated in everything you do!”

Pamela MarchandThis week we are also celebrating Pamela Marchand, a SERT at St. Angela Merici Catholic School. Pamela was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Pam is tremendously passionate about supporting kids. She works very hard to address the needs of every student not just with their academics, but also supports them emotionally and socially. She will strongly advocate for them always! She is calling agencies, setting up appointments, making sure that they have the right equipment and making sure that their equipment works. She is quiet about all of the ways that she supports kids with different abilities. She can be seen walking with a student who is having a difficult day, or if they need a quiet space then she will offer them a spot in her office. Her door is always open for anyone who needs someone to bounce ideas with or just to have a safe space. She offers a valuable service to our community.”

We would like to thank Jennifer and Pamela for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
