In many ways the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is like a family. This feeling is especially true at St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge - with amazing teachers that are always supportive, custodial staff with ready smiles and cheerful greetings, and new opportunities available everywhere.

Our Director of Education, Mr. Beal, recently came to visit us at St. Dominic's and offered his thoughts on communication, our school and social media.

“Students and staff are in a place they have never been before,” said Mr. Beal when asked about social media’s impact on students and schools. “With over 30 of our schools on Twitter, I am constantly seeing celebration.” Mr. Beal actively tweets, as does our principal Mr. Strong and it is just one of the reasons why our school board feels so connected. “It is crucial to remember why we do what we do - a school board can only exist because of the students,” stated Mr. Beal.

It is with students in mind that St. Dominic offers very unique courses and opportunities to its students. Chromebooks? Check! A Hockey Academy? Check!

“I find the atmosphere at St. Dominic amazing,” said Mr. Beal. “It has always been a warm, welcoming and caring place for students to get the support and attention they need. It has stayed the same since it opened.”

“Feel the difference, share the experience” is the slogan that has been coined in recent years to promote St. Dominic to the Bracebridge community. This statement rings true at all Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District schools.
