After weeks of preparation, the annual Jean Vanier Catholic School Terry Fox Run happened Thursday September 29th, 2016.

Jean Vanier students dressed in school colours: blue, gold, and white. A six kilometre loop on the Collingwood Trails, from Jean Vanier to Sunset Point, was marked off for students to walk, run, or hike along. Two local Catholic elementary schools, St. Mary’s and St. Noel Chabanel, joined the students in an exciting pep rally and on the walk.

This year’s pep rally was even more fun as one student in particular, Jamie, agreed to shave his head if his classmates could raise money for the worthy cause. The challenge was accepted and Jamie’s classmates donated over $350. Many teachers including Mr. K. Pickett, Mr. Martel, and Mr. Wierzbicki, volunteered to shave and wax their own hair in order to get more donations. From the pep rally the grand total of donations almost doubled - student’s spirit and generosity was truly incredible.

This year Jean Vanier students and staff raised a breathtaking $4050.65 towards the Terry Fox Foundation, which supports cancer research.
