Christmas at St. Theresa’s Catholic High School in Midland (St. T’s), is one of the best times of the year. Between our inspiring Advent celebrations, and all of the exciting activities around the school, it is truly a wonderful time!

On Tuesday December 11th, St. T’s held their annual Christmas Arts Night in the school gym. There was an incredible variety of talent! Every year, the music, drama, dance, art and photography classes come together to display their creative abilities. Whether it's awesome visual displays or a moving dance piece, there are so many ways that the students of St. Theresa's share their skills.

I had the honour of being one of the emcees for the evening. It was a pleasure to introduce Mr. Irvine’s Grade 10 instrumental music class who played some awesome songs to start the night off right. That music class also played on the St. T’s float in this year's Santa Claus parade bringing home a first place trophy! What an awesome accomplishment.

The night consisted of many beautiful dance pieces and most were choreographed by students themselves! One dance, choreographed by Ms. Diening, was a modern dance inspired by the story of the Prodigal Son from Luke 11-35. The visual arts department put up a beautiful display of three dimensional art created by all grades. The Grade 10 drama class put on a performance that they wrote themselves called “Christmas Tradition Chaos”, which focused on five different families and their Christmas traditions. We also had one of our multi-talented student, C. Mei, direct her own Christmas mash-up that included the band and singers from the Grade 11/12 vocals class!

To close off the night the ever popular school stage band, The Academy of Funk, played some popular Christmas tunes and a song from our up-coming music review “Let’s Get Loud!

Overall, the night was a huge success and everyone raised over $800 for our Thunder Mountain Toy Drive! Thank you to all of the friends, family and community members who joined us for such a wonderful night!
