"You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." -1 Corinthians 12:27
Blood is considered by many to be a connective tissue. It connects each of our body’s systems carrying the necessary elements we need to function. The same vital blood pumps through all of us despite our differences, essentially connecting us all - by blood.
One of our own is hoping to make a life-saving connection with someone. Nathaniel is a smart, energetic and lovable five-year-old. In November of 2018, he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Left untreated, this disease will progress to Leukaemia.
“He’s a typical kid. Into everything, super happy and inquisitive,” says mom, Sally. “He’s an awesome big brother to his baby brother” … and he needs you.
Nathaniel is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. A search for a donor has been expanded into our community after testing in his family failed to turn up a perfect match.
Elaine St. Pierre with Canadian Blood Services reminds us, “There are countless kids like Nathaniel that rely on donors every day to fight illness, so the need is constant.” If you are between the ages of 17-35, please visit www.blood.ca and register as a stem cell donor.
Not sure you’re eligible to donate? Blood Services Canada offers this quiz to help, and a description of the donation process here.
