Students at The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie celebrated winter with their
own Carnaval D’Hiver. Inspired by the famous Carnaval de Québec, the event offered a day filled with French-Canadian culture, outdoor fun, and school spirit.
Starting in 1894, the Carnaval de Québec has grown to become one of the world's largest winter festivals, showcasing parades, ice sculptures, and festive traditions. No Carnaval would be complete without its beloved mascot, Bonhomme, who has symbolized joy since 1955. He made a special visit to greet students at The Good Shepherd.
Students enjoyed the mild weather as they participated in a variety of winter activities, led by the Grade 8 leadership team. After all the fun, a cup of hot chocolate was the perfect way to warm up.
Merci to everyone who made this wonderful day possible—Vive le Carnaval!
