On January 16th, 21 students from Holy Trinity's Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, along with community partners, had the opportunity to participate in a job exploration event with the Toronto Police Service. This immersive experience provided students with a unique opportunity to engage in experiential learning while touring key areas of the force.
The students explored various specialized units, including the K-9 and Drug Enforcement teams, Communications (911), and the 33 Division jail facilities. These tours offered valuable insights into the diverse career paths available in the field of health and wellness, particularly within law enforcement and emergency services.
Such hands-on experiences play a pivotal role in helping senior students gain a deeper understanding of their potential career pathways. The connection between alumni, community partners, and students continues to provide authentic and enriching opportunities, ensuring that students can make informed decisions about their futures in health and wellness fields.
Special thanks to Communications Supervisor Samantha Zucca, Communications Operators Lilly Taylor and Alana Skaltsiotis, as well as the Officers from the K-9 and 33 Division teams for sharing their expertise with our students. Thanks also to Mr. Denny DeOliveira for his ongoing commitment to providing enriching SHSM Reach Ahead experiences.
