Students at Holy Family Catholic School in Alliston get to experience camp this winter — all without leaving their classroom.
From Monday, January 26th to Thursday, January 29th, the school is hosting the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps Tims Classrooms Program, bringing hands-on, camp-style activities into the school day for Grades 5 and 6 students. Designed for students who might not have access to traditional camp experiences, the program focuses on teamwork, communication, confidence and goal-setting through interactive challenges and games.
“We’re very grateful to the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps team for coming to Holy Family and bringing this classroom program to our students,” says Sonia Bowen, principal of Holy Family Catholic School. “Even after just two days, we’re already hearing very positive feedback from students and staff. We’re excited to see students use the leadership and social skills they’re learning through this program not just this week, but as they continue through their school years.”
Teachers also take part in the experience, giving them a new perspective on their students’ strengths. The week wraps up with a reflection activity and a small celebration, giving students a chance to look back on what they’ve accomplished together.
Launched in 2024, the Tims Classrooms Program provides free youth development opportunities to schools across Ontario. The camp-style classroom experience supports students’ social, emotional, and leadership growth while aligning with our Board’s mission to nurture each child’s full potential and inspire positive contributions to the world around them.
