Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who a parent, student, or colleague recognizes.

This week, we celebrate Victoria Baumgart, a teacher at Victoria Baumgart Saint Mary Catholic School in Huntsville. Victoria was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Victoria Baumgart truly encompasses what it means to do God's work. Luckily for us, this happens at our school and in our community. She goes above and beyond in all parts of her SERT role and regularly checks in with students in every class to ensure that both staff and students are supported. She is the representative for the parent council and works to plan fun activities for the students, fosters relationships with parents, and volunteers her time for events and fundraising. Her office is a calming spot for any student who needs a break. She is our school TIC and handles this role with patience, fairness, and grace. She coaches teams and organizes clubs to teach students responsibility and foster community. She plans learning activities in the Learning Commons, prepares slides and activities for our assemblies, and keeps our school media current! Victoria checks in with staff and always has time to lend an ear or to help with a solution. Victoria is entwined with every part of our school through the activities she runs and the support she offers both staff and students, as well as fulfilling her SERT role. We are in awe of her and do not know how she continues to do all of this. She has a smile on her face, but we are truly grateful.”

Sandra CartwrightThis week, we also celebrate Sandra Cartwright, a teacher at Saint Mary Catholic School in Huntsville. Sandra was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Sandra has supported Saint Mary Catholic School for a very long time. Her three children graduated from Saint Mary school, and her daughter teaches in the intermediate position. She covered a long-term DECE position and continues to fill any position needed! Her flexibility and confidence in any room or position help our school to run! Sandra offers to help all staff members, and when filling a job position, she will continue to offer to help cover duties, put up bulletin boards, tidy up the staff room, or help out in the learning commons. She offers up her home for staff functions and is well-respected by the students and staff. Sandra cares for the staff and the students at our school, and her presence adds positive energy to our school community.”

We thank Victoria and Sandra for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
