Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Vanessa Molella-Almeida,
a teacher at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School. Vanessa was nominated by a parent who said:
“I am honoured to nominate Vanessa Molella-Almeida. She is a wonderful teacher who made the transition to kindergarten so much easier through her endless love, patience, and dedication. She welcomes every child with a warm smile and puts so much care into helping each student grow. I will forever be grateful to her.”
This week, we are also celebrating Anne Arthur and Nina Merola, special education resource teachers (SERT’S) at Holy Family Catholic School. Anne and Nina were nominated by a colleague who said:
“Anne and Nina are exceptional SERT's. It is so clear that they love what they do and who they work with. Clearly, teaching is a vocation for them both. They bring a smile to every situation, have an open-door policy and go above and beyond to help out whenever they can. Whether it be team meetings, student support or simple staff hallway conversations, they approach it with kindness and patience.
Not only are they exceptional teachers, they are exceptional people. On a daily basis, it is such a blessing to witness their generosity and genuineness in all that they do. The Holy Family School community is blessed to have them on staff!”
We are also celebrating Mackenzie Wardlaw, an
educational assistant at St. Monica’s Catholic School. Mackenzie was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Mac shows up every single day with a smile on his face and a positive spirit that lifts everyone at SMO. He consistently goes above and beyond for his students, demonstrating genuine care and commitment to their success and well-being. It’s clear that he truly wants the very best for each of them and will do whatever he can to support them in reaching their potential. His passion for his work shines through in everything he does, and our school community is better because of his dedication and heart.”
Last but certainly not least, we are celebrating Marcella Borgia, an educational assistant at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Marcella received a very sweet and special nomination from her son, who said:
“I would like to nominate my Mom, Marcella Borgia, who is retiring this school year after being hired in 1993 as a yard supervisor, and hired as a permanent EA in 1999. I have had the privilege of being a student at St. Francis of Assisi while my Mom was an EA, a teacher with my Mother while at SFA as well as her Vice Principal for a short time. I have witnessed her dedication to the role of Educational Assistant with the SMCDSB throughout my entire life and she deserves to be recognized for her wholesome and full career, where she has made a difference in the lives of many students. Congratulations on your retirement Mom!”
