Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week, we are celebrating Sami Jo Whalen, Christa School Musical teachers and SFA principal Matthews, Nicole St. Louis, Katherine Denis, and Loriana Nicoletta-Liguori, teachers and principal at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Sami Jo, Christa, Nicole, Katherine, and Loriana were nominated by a community member who said:

“Every spring, SFA presents a truly outstanding musical, led by the incredible efforts of Sami Jo and Christa. What makes it so special is that the entire school is involved—whether acting or singing on stage, dancing, working on sets, lighting, sound, ushering, confections, or marketing. Every student has a role in bringing the production to life.

Through this experience, students gain new skills, learn discipline and resilience, and create lasting memories that such a shared creative effort can offer. It is a wonderful example of the power and value of the performing arts.

I commend the teachers for their exceptional dedication each year, and the principal for the vital support that makes this possible. The students at SFA are truly fortunate to have such an opportunity.”

Stacey KingThis week, we are also celebrating Stacey King, an educational assistant at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Barrie. Stacey was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Stacey brings her whole heart to her work. She is passionate and skilled at building students up and helping them reach their full potential. She also brings laughter and joy to each day, making our school a wonderful place to be. She is supportive and encouraging, despite what she is going through, and always has a positive attitude as she goes about her work.”

This week, we are also celebrating Andrew Foxcroft, a Andrew Foxcroft teacher at Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Huntsville. Andrew was nominated by a parent who said:

“I am honoured to nominate Mr. Andrew Foxcroft, a truly exceptional educator whose dedication and compassion shine brightly each year. Mr. Foxcroft is the teacher who consistently welcomes EVERY child with open arms, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth. His patience is nothing short of saintly, and his vision as a leader inspires both students and colleagues alike.

He possesses an extraordinary ability to connect with each child on a personal level, making them feel valued, loved, and important. That they are the most significant person in the world at that moment. Such a gift fosters an environment of safety, respect, and encouragement, empowering children to learn, explore, and thrive while having fun.

Mr. Foxcroft’s unwavering commitment to helping all children feel seen and supported sets a shining example of what it means to be a passionate, empathetic, and inspiring teacher. He embodies the very spirit of education and deserves recognition as a role model for teachers everywhere, one who truly changes lives for the better!”

We would like to thank Sami Jo, Christa, Nicole, Katherine, Loriana, Stacey and Andrew for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
