Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Melissa Baye, a teacher at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. Melissa was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“I am nominating my teaching partner on behalf of Melissa Baye our  students. Miss Baye is loved by all her students and it shows by her dedication to each and every child that she greets every morning, to start to make their day a special day. When the child was asked what makes Miss Baye so special to them, one child said she is “ME BAYE, just ME BAYE!” Another friend said “cause she reads books with me.” Another student said that “Miss Baye is so nice she makes me so happy when I’m sad.” We could go on for hours about how she is the best teacher and is so devoted to each and every student. She has touched their little hearts in so many ways and I’m sure anyone that has met Miss Baye can tell you she is awesome.”

Jodi LanchaThis week we are celebrating Jodi Lancha, a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. Jodi was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“I nominate my teaching partner, Jodi Lancha. If you ask any of our students (past or present), they will tell you Mrs. Lancha is amazing, funny, down to earth, kind and a joy to be around. But I’m not only nominating her for the things that the students see, but for all the things they don’t see. All the time spent behind the scenes:
*creating new and interesting learning centers, activities and learning tools
*Helping colleagues, including myself , with ideas, supplies and advice
*The countless times of dealing with big emotions with little humans
*Treating each and every student as if they are the most important person in the world.

It is for these and many other reasons why Mrs. Lancha should be recognized for her amazingness. I just want her to feel as special as she makes us feel.”

We would like to thank Melissa and Jodi for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
