Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Marianna Knights, a

teacher at Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School. Marianna was nominated by a parent who said:
“Ms. Knights is an incredible teacher, mentor, and Chaplain. She has taken under her wing numerous students, including my own, to make them feel a part of the school and genuinely cared for. She goes above and beyond. Her involvement with swimming, and I'm sure many others, has included everyone. She's gone out of her way to make sure my son, who has special needs, is wanted, included, and helped. She deserves this. Thank you.”

This week, we are also celebrating Melinda Schneider, a teacher at St. Angela Merici Catholic School. Melinda was nominated by a parent who said:
“I just cannot express my sincere appreciation for Melinda. I feel like she is truly preparing her students for high school. Her firm hand and understanding of absolutely everything that is going on in her classroom with all her students is so rare and impressive. She is the example of what all teachers should be modelled after. My 10th grader said that she looked around her classroom and envisioned her own classroom looking like hers. She inspires whoever she comes in contact with, even if it's just for 10 minutes. Ten minutes is all one needs with her to be inspired and encouraged to be their best selves.”
We would like to thank Marianna and Melinda for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
