Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who a parent, student or colleague has recognized.

This week, we celebrate Marcelle Edinboro, St. André Marcelle Edinboro Bessette Catholic School principal. Marcelle was nominated by a student who said:

“Dear Ms. Edinboro,

I hope this email finds you well! It has been over 20 years since I was in your Grade 8 class at St. Bernadette, but I’ve often thought about the impact you had on me, and I wanted to take a moment to reach out and say thank you.
When I first moved to Barrie, it was a time of big transitions, and your kindness, encouragement, and belief in me made such a difference. You created a classroom where I felt seen and supported as a young Black girl, and that meant the world to me. Your dedication to your students was clear, and the way you nurtured curiosity and confidence has stayed with me all these years.

I wanted to share that I finished my PhD in anthropology at Columbia University last year and am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. It’s been quite a journey, but I know that having teachers like you, who saw potential in their students and nurtured it, helped lay the foundation for where I am today.

More than anything, I just wanted to express my gratitude. Thank you for the work you do, for your commitment to young people, and for the impact you’ve had on so many lives, including mine. I truly hope you are doing well, and I wish you all the best in everything. With much appreciation.”

Michael Timpano and Jeff CarronThis week, we also celebrate Michael Timpano, ICT consultant, and Jeff Carron, secondary STEM consultant at Academic Services. Michael and Jeff were nominated by a colleague who said:

“I would like to nominate Michael and Jeff for their outstanding contributions to our FSL (French as a Second Language) teachers. They consistently go above and beyond to offer invaluable support, particularly in helping our teachers and students integrate technology into the FSL classrooms.

Michael and Jeff are always willing to assist with any tech-related issues that arise. Additionally, they actively support FSL professional development opportunities, offering guidance and assistance whenever needed.

Their dedication and proactive approach have made a significant difference, and I believe they truly deserve recognition for their hard work and commitment to supporting our FSL teachers.”

We would like to thank Marcelle, Michael and Jeff for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
