Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Jennifer Howard and
Kristen McDade, a special education resource teacher (SERT) and principal at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. Jennifer and Kristen were nominated by a parent who said:
“Jennifer Howard and Kristen McDade have truly transformed the way special education is supported at Our Lady of Grace. They’ve created a welcoming and inclusive approach that ensures every student’s needs are met with care and purpose. Whether it’s transforming student hubs or supporting parents through meetings, they do it with heart and love. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to inclusion make a lasting difference for students, staff, and families every single day. Quite simply, Our Lady of Grace would not be the same without them. Their impact is felt in every corner of the school.”
This week, we are also celebrating Brianna Schug, a teacher at Foley Catholic School. Brianna was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Brianna consistently demonstrates a positive, uplifting attitude that inspires both her students and colleagues. No matter what challenges arise, she approaches every situation with calmness and flexibility, always willing to “go with the flow” while keeping students’ best interests first. Her creativity shines through in her classroom. She regularly develops engaging, imaginative learning experiences that spark curiosity and support all learners. Her ideas not only enrich the students’ day-to-day experiences but also contribute to a vibrant, dynamic school environment. Most importantly, Brianna puts her heart into everything she does. She shows genuine care for her students, building connections that make them feel valued, supported, and capable. Her dedication is evident in the extra time, thought, and compassion she pours into her work each day. Brianna is a true asset to our school, and she embodies what it means to excel in the workplace.”
