Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Heinrich Bebie, a principal

at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School. Heinrich was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Although he has been recognized before, he deserves to be recognized again (and again, and again, and again). Heinrich Bebie is an exemplary leader and has the ability to immediately transform a school the moment he enters a building. We are all so thankful he is at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School as our principal.
As a principal, he is fair, supportive, and kind. He forms deep and meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families alike. His gentle nature allows him to maintain high standards without the intimidation factor. He is approachable, patient, and truly wants what is best for everyone. He is an advocate for students and their well-being. He encourages making good choices, taking on leadership opportunities, and building confidence. He empowers students. This is apparent in his support of ample student-led clubs currently running at St. Marie.
He fosters an unmatched sense of community. This is evident in the gathering space he has created at the entrance of St. Marie. He has created a positive, student-centred culture at the school, and we are all so fortunate to be a part of it.
Thank you for creating a place where our children want to be each and every day. Thank you for being out in the halls, out in the yard, and out in the community. And most importantly, Mr. Bebie, thank you for being you!”

This week, we are also celebrating Merna Kaba, an educational assistant at St. Cecilia Catholic School. Merna was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Merna goes above and beyond to help not only her students but every student she interacts with. She shines with love and care - she sees their needs and does anything she can to help. She comes into each classroom with a smile; her kind words and presence are noticed by all.”
We are also celebrating Karla Conflitti, an educational

assistant at St. Charles Catholic School. Karla was nominated by a colleague who said:
“There are no words to describe how dedicated and caring Karla is. She is such a compassionate and kind individual, not only to her coworkers but also to her students. Karla radiates kindness and dedication and is always doing her best to be there for her team and students. Karla always comes to work with a smile, no matter what, and inspires others with her cheerful and kind personality! We are so lucky to have her at our school!”

Finally, we are celebrating Marie Servello, a teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Marie was nominated by a student who said:
“Ms. Servello is a dedicated teacher who always looks out for her students. She constantly encourages her students to apply themselves and do the best they can. She brings a positive attitude to her classroom and the subjects being taught. She makes learning fun for her students while holding them accountable for their marks.”
We would like to thank Heinrich, Merna, Karla, and Maria for their commitment to Catholic education at our board
