Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Diane Sousa, a teacher at

St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic School. Diane was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Mrs. Sousa always goes above and beyond for her students. Her kindness and compassion are shown in each and every lesson. Mrs. Sousa always puts her students first and is the most amazing educator. Mrs. Sousa believes and encourages every one of her students. Thank you for everything that you do for SMCDSB!”

This week, we are also celebrating Deanna Boniello, a vice principal at both Holy Cross Catholic School and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Deanna was nominated by a colleague who said:
“Deanna is new to our board and was thrust into a vice-principal position at not one but two elementary schools, a new initiative at the board. It has come with many challenges that Deanna has navigated with grace and professionalism. She truly cares about ALL the children and staff in both her schools. She proves it every day, whether she is at Holy Cross or at St. Francis. She guides children on the right path to set them up for success in reaching their goals and teaches them respect and accountability for their actions in a sensitive and caring manner. She cares for her staff as she leads by example and will fight for what is right and just. We are very lucky to have her in our corner.”
This week, we are also celebrating Michelle Martucci, a

teacher at St. André Bessette Catholic School. Michelle was nominated by a student who said:
“When I was in Grade 6, I was lucky to have Mrs. Martucci as my teacher. Every day, she made me feel comfortable, smart, and let me know that I mattered. She wasn't the type of teacher who just taught her students. She truly cared about us. She would always check on our mental health and always tried to make us feel good about ourselves. Mrs. Martucci would stay after school one day every week to help students with their homework. She made me start to like going to school. I miss her, and I wish her well.”
We would like to thank Diane, Deanna, and Michelle for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
