Every week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, a student, or a colleague.
This week, we are celebrating Byron Mifsud, a teacher at

Holy Cross Catholic School. Byron was nominated by two students who said:
“Mr. Mifsud is a teacher that students only get once in a lifetime. He was not only our teacher, he was someone we trusted, felt safe with, and looked up to. He made such a huge impact on his students that not one of us wanted to graduate from grade 8; we didn’t want to leave him. He made us want to come to class every day. Mr. Mifsud is the teacher we will remember for the rest of our lives. He was our friend, but most importantly, an amazing role model and educator. Your 2025 graduating class will miss you more than you know.”

This week, we are also celebrating Moira Francis, a teacher at St. André Bessette Catholic School. Moira was nominated by a parent who said:
“My daughter had the luxury of having Mrs. Francis 2 years in a row and was always excited to go to school and looked forward to learning. Mrs. Francis has always been available to support her when needed. We wish Mrs. Francis lots of happiness & success and thank her for taking the time to care for our child.”
We would like to thank Byron and Moira for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
