Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week, we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who a parent, student, or colleague has recognized.

This week, we are celebrating Belinda Marcellus, a Belinda Marcellus Disability Management Assistant at the Catholic Education Centre. Belinda was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Belinda is one of the most kind, caring and thoughtful people I know. She thoughtfully responds to each and every staff member that she interacts with, and helps them through anything that they are dealing with. She listens with care and provides helpful and supportive ideas, encouraging every person to reach for the stars! She advocates for staff and assists with accessing resources and services that are right for the situation at hand. She is a wealth of both everyday and Board knowledge, having worked here for a great number of years, and has seen and supported many changes in both the Board and the (now) Health and Wellness Department. She is a true treasure and a bright star, always helping others to see the sunny side of the coin! She is also a wealth of exciting and new words and terminology, and many turn to her when we are looking for just the right way to describe something. I learn so many wonderful new things from her every single day, as do others, I imagine, and when she decides to retire (again), she will definitely be missed at the Board Office!”

Shannon MueggeThis week, we are also celebrating Shannon Muegge, a teacher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School. Shannon was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Shannon Muegge deserves to be recognized for her outstanding contributions to our JOA school community. She leads the Female Physical Health and Education Department and exemplifies leadership, dedication, and a strong commitment to student development both on and off the field. Shannon approaches each day full of life and excitement, and this energy radiates towards those around her.

Shannon’s impact extends well beyond the classroom. She has coached many teams, most recently lacrosse and basketball, which demonstrates her passion for sport and community. Under her guidance, students not only develop athletic skills but also grow in confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

She has mentored many new staff members and has been a valued friend and colleague to so many. As she approaches retirement, we celebrate Shannon’s incredible contributions and the positive legacy she leaves behind!”

This week, we are also celebrating Mimma Quinto, the Mimma Quinto principal at Holy Cross Catholic School. Mimma was nominated by a colleague who said:

“Principal Mimma Quinto exemplifies exceptional and distinctive leadership. She demonstrates a rare and admirable blend of openness, appreciation, empathy, approachability, and thoughtful direction. What I truly admire is her ability to compartmentalize each individual's needs and respond with fairness, calm, and unwavering objectivity — all while making you feel like the most important person in the room.

Every interaction with her feels light, sincere, and deeply personal, creating a strong sense of trust and emotional safety. She brings a natural warmth and ease to conversations while simultaneously demonstrating confident, intentional leadership. Her presence is both empowering and comforting, and it is genuinely a privilege to work under her guidance.

It is all too easy for principals to be overlooked, despite the profound impact they make and the unique leadership style they bring to their schools. Principal Quinto leads not just with authority, but with heart — and that is something truly worth celebrating.”

We thank Belinda, Shannon, and Mimma for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
