We are excited to share that the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) has been named “Employer of the Year” by Community Living South Muskoka! This achievement celebrates the success of Continuing & Community Education's Custodial Training Program, and its positive impact on students and their future careers.
One student, Ryan, participated in the program's first year. Through classroom learning, hands-on co-op experience, and guidance from our team, Ryan completed his training and was hired as a custodian at SMCDSB. His story is just one example of how this program prepares students for success.
The Custodial Training Program, offered through SMCDSB’s Continuing and Community Education, is open to high school students, recent graduates, and adults working toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The program combines online and in-person learning with real job placements. In the classroom, students develop essential skills, and earn certifications like First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and equipment safety. During their co-op placement, they get over 300 hours of real-world experience.
This training is designed to lead to potential job opportunities within SMCDSB. The program has already proven valuable for both students and employers.
We thank Community Living South Muskoka for this recognition and look forward to continuing our partnership. This recognition reflects the hard work of our educators and the opportunities created through teamwork.
