The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is proud to announce the official naming of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Continuing Education School, a vibrant learning community that has been serving students since 2009. After a thorough and inclusive process, the name was chosen by a popular vote within the board community, and replaces the name Adult, Continuing and Community Education.
The naming process began with the formation of a dedicated selection committee, which invited suggestions from students, staff, families, and community members. After careful consideration, the committee narrowed the options down to three finalists, and a community-wide vote ultimately selected Our Lady of Hope Catholic Continuing Education as the school's new name.
The title “Our Lady” holds deep significance in the Catholic faith, traditionally referring to the Virgin Mary. As the mother of Jesus, she embodies our confident hope in a future of happiness and fulfillment, which aligns perfectly with the type of programming offered at this school.
“Our Lady of Hope represents inclusivity and the diversity of our community,” said Brad Shoreman, Principal of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Continuing Education School. “Just as our programs offer something for everyone, Mary has been a symbol of hope across all cultures, welcoming everyone regardless of their background. We’ve wanted to have a school name for many years, so this is a very happy moment for all of us who worked so hard to make that happen.”

As the newly named school moves forward, it will continue offering exceptional programs for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adults wishing to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The school also offers an apprenticeship for educational assistants and free educational training for students and recent graduates looking to become certified personal support workers and custodians. Students and parents can depend on the same unique, community-focused education opportunities at Our Lady of Hope, building on a legacy of exceptional faith-based learning.
