Catholic Education Week: Celebrating Principals, Vice-Principals and Clergy
Posted on 05/07/2020
This year’s theme for Catholic Education Week is Igniting Hope and I can’t think of a more fitting theme during this unprecedented time. During adversity we must turn to our faith and remember that we are people of hope - brighter days will prevail and it is hope and faith that will guide us there.

Although we are celebrating Catholic Education Week in a much different way this year, this is still a wonderful opportunity to recognize how fortunate we are to share in the gift of Catholic education. It is also the perfect time to recognize everyone in our school communities who continue to work together, during these challenging times, to provide our students with the very best possible faith-based education.

Each day this week, I feel blessed to be able to appreciate and say thank you to each group who makes up our collective whole.

This year especially, our principals and vice-principal have demonstrated why they were chosen to answer the call in Catholic leadership. Despite the many challenges you have faced this year, each and every one of you has gone above and beyond to support your staff and families with tremendous professionalism and compassion. I can’t think of a more wonderful group of people to work and lead with. I am also incredibly grateful for the support of our clergy - for the first time in our lives we cannot attend Mass in person and yet our parishes continue to make important connections with our staff and families.

God bless each of you for the work you do each and every day.

I ask that you please forward my appreciation to all the laity in your parishes who support us in our work as well.

As this is my last year as Director of Education with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, I would like to thank you for the many ways in which you have supported me in this role. It has been an honour to serve with you.
