MARCH 12, 2020 - BARRIE, ON: The Government of Ontario issued a media statement late this afternoon in response to the emergence of COVID-19 in the province of Ontario. An order has been issued mandating the closure of all publicly funded schools in Ontario for March break and the following two weeks. The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is confirming that all elementary and secondary schools will be closed beginning March 14th through to April 5th.  

This is an unprecedented situation and is quickly evolving. The Board knows that families will have many questions about what this will mean for their children. The SMCDSB is working closely with the Ministry of Education, the Health Unit, other school boards in Ontario to consider the many factors that will need to be addressed and will communicate directly with families as soon as information and updates become available.
