Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Michael Cogswell and Michael Bruni.

Michael Cogswell is an occasional teacher at the Board. He was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“The positive impact Mike Cogswell had since he arrived at St. Dominic Catholicmike cogswell Secondary School in Bracebridge was immediately noticeable. His openness, approachability and genuine empathy for others has been noted and remarked upon by the staff in our community.

He has a special ability to grab his students' attention and hold it throughout class and his ‘no nonsense’ approach has gained him a school full of respect and appreciation. Mike never forgoes an opportunity to share his love of Christ with the students and readily speaks of how he found God. We have appreciated him from the start and know that he will be a blessing wherever he goes to teach.”

Michael Bruni is a teacher at St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie. He was nominated by a parent, who said:

michael bruni“Michael Bruni is hands down one of St. Peter’s best! He is fun, interactive, helpful and he always puts his students first before anything else. He’s always making sure that his students know if they need help, they can go to him. Now on top of being a classroom teacher, he’s also a coach and a dad, and he makes all of it work. Mr. Bruni has been a dedicated teacher to St. Peter’s for 11 years now and has made a tremendous impact on students’ lives!”

We would like to thank Michael and Michael for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
