On December 22nd, students and staff at Jean Vanier Catholic High School in Collingwood enjoyed their annual Christmas celebration; a trip to the Collingwood Cineplex, followed by the always-amusing talent show and teachers skit.

This was the culmination of a busy week of festivities which included the gift drive, the ugly Christmas sweater day, the classroom door Christmas decorating contest and the school’s Christmas Mass.

Students were bussed to the Cineplex, where they had three great movies to choose from; Jumanji; welcome to the jungle, Ferdinand, and Pitch Perfect 3. Jumanji turned out to be the crowd favourite, so much so that a second theatre was opened up to meet the overwhelming demand of students wanting to see the movie.

Following a common lunch, students and staff were invited to watch the annual Christmas talent show. This years show featured singing, piano recitals, and dancing performances, as well as a preview of the school’s drama production; High School Daze.

The day ended with the much anticipated teachers skit; a rather ridiculous, yet amusing, story of the schools staff on a mission to prevent the Vice Principal from ruining Christmas.

The last week of school can be a chaotic time, as students finish off their work assignments and prepare for the break ahead, so having the last day of school to celebrate and relax is always a fantastic way to finish off the year and begin the Christmas holidays.
