While most people were focussing on preparing their Halloween costumes and anticipating a night of candy collecting, St. Bernard’s Catholic School in Orillia was also working on scaring away the issue of hunger. The school’s 230 students participated in the Scare Away Hunger food drive for the local St. Vincent de Paul Society and collected an amazing 1,071 non-perishable food items.

Mr. Ayer’s Grade 7/8 class brought in 400 items- the most in the school, and was the winner of a pizza party. Graciously, the class decided to forego the delicious prize and instead, donated the $50 to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

We would like to thank the staff and students for the generous donations of food and money to support a wonderful cause.
