Parents as Partners

Parents are key to their children’s success in schools, as research continues to show us. Being actively involved in their child’s school is one of the ways that parents can make a positive impact on learning. Our Catholic School Community Councils (CSCCs), made up of committed parents, staff and other community representatives, are important partners in our schools. From providing input on policies, making recommendations on school improvement plans, developing school codes of conduct, and other important school activities, the voice of parents is important to us.

We also established a Central Parent Committee with parent representatives from across Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. These parents have made several key recommendations to the Board and have specifically focused on improving communication among all parents. Some of their key initiatives have been to enhancee-communications for parents, share resources and best practices, and to organize the first very successful Parent Conference, which will become an annual event.
