Best Start Child Care Program

Our Board is pleased to work with the provincial government and other community partners on the Best Start Child Care Program. Best Start involves the expansion of quality and affordable child care and investments in children's healthy early development. The aim is to strengthen early development, learning and child care services so that children arrive in Grade One ready to learn and excel.

We are pleased to be able to offer new licensed child care centres in four of our schools. Research continues to show that children's early learning experiences have a profound impact on their future development. Offering high quality, early learning experiences for children helps to establish the foundation for later learning in school and in life. Having the Best Start program right in our schools not only makes child care more accessible for families, but it also makes the transition into school easier for the children.

Other Daycare Facilities

In addition to the Best Start Child Care Centres, eight of our schools house independently operated daycare facilities. These facilities are not run in conjunction with our Board, however, they do provide families with convenient child care options.
