Trustees celebrated their initial meeting and the Season of Advent with Mass, which was presided by Father Peter Tammearu, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Phelpston. Adele Heins, a teacher from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Midland, provided music ministry. It was a wonderful celebration using new Roman Missal. Father Tammearu also commissioned the trustees who will begin their second year of service for the Board.

Presentations

Director of Education’s Annual Report
Director of Education Brian Beal presented his annual report on the 2010-2011 school year. Brian spoke about the theme of the annual report, You are the Voice of the Living God, and what it means to our board. He walked the trustees through the report, highlighting many of the amazing activities that took place. He indicated that the report is a snapshot of the excellent work being done in our schools and board office communities both inside and outside the classroom. Brian stated that he is tremendously proud of the commitment of staff to our students and to Catholic education.

Election of Board Chair
The trustees re-elected Clayton Ferguson to a second term as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Election of Board Vice-Chair
The trustees elected Maria Hardie as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees.

2012 Meeting Schedule and Committees
The trustees reviewed and approved the meeting schedules for the 2012 board year for:

Board meetings, Special Education Advisory Committee, Board Policy Review Committee, and Supervised Alternative Learning Committee.

Trustee Honorarium
Trustees approved the honorarium for allowance for expenses related to the discharge of their duties.

Bank Borrowing Resolution
Trustees approved the borrowing resolution for signing and sealing by the Chair of the Board and the Secretary of the Board.
